Hi, my name is Jacqueline Wesley also known as ‘The Bald Veganesse‘. For years the name of my blog was ‘The Bald Veganesse’, however somehow, I lost access to my website when I relocated to Texas, change in email address and other issues that I won’t waste your time with.

But I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. We may not be aware of the reason at the time it takes place, but when the dust settles, something good usually comes out of it.

Since I am starting over, I feel the need to add a new ‘About Me’ page to present myself to most and introduce myself to all newcomers. It is my personal opinion that nobody wants to read, take advice, or even follow a person they know very little about. Nor are most people interesting in subscribing to a person’s blog (where their personal thoughts and opinions are expressed) and they cannot relate to that person in same manner. Can I get witness?

I am originally from a small town in Texas, but have lived for the past twenty-five years in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. My husband and I decided to make the move for a fresh start all the while getting away from all the white noise and outside chatter that was creating problems for our family.

My greatest achievement is being the wife to my wonderful husband, the proud parent of two beautiful daughters and step-parent to three stepchildren, which totals eleven grandchildren, one great-grandson and another on the way.

My journey in Las Vegas was a long and interesting one. Being a go-getter, working my way from the bottom to the top has always been rewarding, not just for the experience, but it always kept me connected and grounded. It is one thing to manage and supervise others when your degree warrants it, however, it is completely different when you have actually worked in each department and most positions.

In 1996, I was employed at Ramada Vacation Suites, right off the Las Vegas Strip, as a GRA. Not having a clue what a GRA was, I showed up on my first day of work wearing pantyhose, yes we really wore them, and heels. To my surprise, I found out pretty quickly that it was very difficult to clean rooms wearing office attire. You got it, I was a Guest Room Attendant, the politically correct term for “maid”! Well, needless to say, I stayed on the job, because my word is my bond. It wasn’t their fault because I didn’t read the job description thoroughly, therefore, I had to live with the consequences for my actions.

I soon realized that this was one of those ‘everything happens for a reason’ moment. Within eighteen months, I was promoted to Resort Manager, working in every department and learning how important each position was in the running of a hotel.

The resort consisted of five hundred units and two hundred-fifty employees, all of whom had worked beside me in one capacity or another and knew me. When I was made Resort Manager, I understood the importance of not taking anything or anyone for granted. My staff knew that they could count on my support even if it meant cleaning rooms or working the front desk checking guests in. I learned to pack my patience in my briefcase every morning before I left home.

I am a hands on person and will only offer my opinion and expert on topics that I am familiar with. I learned to put my blinders on and stay in my lane.

After leaving Ramada, I started a cleaning company and serviced both residential and commercial clients. Working at Ramada gave me all the tools needed to be a successful business owner for fifteen years. I only closed the business when my health started declining and I was no longer able to run the business.

Now I am interested to see where sixty takes me and the reason(s) for it.
